Johnson County Jail Roster Overview
The official starting point for Johnson County jail inmate records is the Johnson County Sheriff's Office arrest inquiry page. That page sends users to the InteropWeb jail population roster, so the vendor roster can be treated as the official online roster for local custody. It covers the Johnson County Jail, not Johnson State Prison, not federal prison, and not ICE detention.
The sheriff's notice matters as much as the search box. It says the list changes as inmates are released and booked, is for information only, should not be used for legal documents, and carries a presumption-of-innocence warning. It also says photos are not shown under O.C.G.A. 50-18-72. That means the roster is useful for fast custody checks, but certified records still come from the agency, clerk, or court that created them.
The screenshot from the current inmates tab shows the name-search fields and the public record layout used for Johnson County jail records.
The visible fields confirm the roster's practical limits: it is built around names and roster entries, not full criminal histories or certified case files.
Use the Johnson County Roster
The roster has three public tabs: Current Inmates, 24 Hours Arrests, and Inmates by Arrest Date. Current Inmates is best when the question is whether someone is in the Johnson County Jail now. The 24 Hours Arrests tab helps with very recent bookings. The arrest-date tab may show recent released entries, but no official retention window was posted, so older booking history should be requested from the sheriff or checked through court records.
- Open the official sheriff arrest-inquiry page, then follow the roster link to InteropWeb.
- Use the Current Inmates tab for a present-custody search, or use the 24 Hours Arrests tab for a very new booking.
- Enter a last name, first name, or both. Leave the name fields blank only when browsing all paginated results makes sense.
- Read the status, arrest date, arresting agency, total bond, and charge grid. Confirm fast-changing facts by calling the jail.
- If the person is not listed, check the arrest-date tab, call Johnson County Jail, then move to GDC, BOP, ICE, or court records as the facts require.
Johnson County Search Fields
Johnson County's roster search is simple. It does not provide the extra filters that appear in some larger counties, such as booking number, date of birth, housing unit, charge type, or facility dropdown. The date-search tab adds a date range, while the current-inmate and 24-hour tabs use optional name fields.
| Roster Area | Field Label | Type | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Current Inmates | Last Name | Text | No | Optional last-name search under "Filter By Inmate Name." |
| Current Inmates | First Name | Text | No | Optional first-name search. A broad search can return paginated results. |
| 24 Hours Arrests | Last Name / First Name | Text | No | Used for short-window arrest results. |
| Inmates by Arrest Date | Select Date Range to Filter | Date range | No | Calendar controls include Today, Clear, OK, Cancel, and month navigation. |
| All tabs | Search Inmates | Button | n/a | Runs the search after the user chooses a tab and fields. |
Johnson County Inmate Profile Fields
A Johnson County roster record is more detailed than the search form. It can help a family member identify the arresting agency, see whether bond has been set, and find the court label tied to a charge. It still should not be read as the final court outcome. Charges can be amended, reduced, dismissed, diverted, or replaced by formal court filings after prosecutor review.
| Field | What It Shows |
|---|---|
| Image area | A no-photo placeholder. Johnson County does not publish booking photos on the roster. |
| Name and status | Name plus values such as currently booked or released. |
| Sex, height, weight | Limited identifying details visible in the public layout. |
| Address | The field appears, but inspected entries showed redacted addresses. |
| Arrest date and agency | Booking timing and the agency, such as Johnson County Sheriff's Office. |
| Days in jail and total bond | Custody duration and bond status, including values such as not set, denied, or a dollar amount. |
| Charge grid | Warrant number, counts, statute, description, misdemeanor/felony marker, and court label. |
Roster limit: Housing unit, booking number, court date, projected release date, and full criminal history were not observed as public fields in the inspected layout.
Recent Johnson County Booking Records
The 24 Hours Arrests tab and Inmates by Arrest Date tab give Johnson County users more than a single current-custody list. The arrest-date tab had a date-range picker during the June 4, 2026 inspection, and released entries could appear in that view. That makes it useful for short-term booking checks after release.
The arrest-date tab screenshot shows the date-range controls used for recent Johnson County jail inmate records.
Because the sheriff did not post a retention rule, a no-result search can mean release, transfer, older record age, different spelling, or another custody system.
County, State, Federal Custody
Johnson County inmate records split across systems after a case moves. The county roster is the local jail tool for pretrial custody, short sentences, recent bookings, and holds. The Georgia Department of Corrections offender locator is the right system for sentenced state prisoners and Johnson State Prison. Federal sentenced inmates use the BOP inmate locator, while immigration detainees use ICE ODLS guidance and the ODLS tool.
| Custody Situation | Where to Look | Johnson County Note |
|---|---|---|
| Current local jail custody | Johnson County roster | Covers current inmates and recent arrest views. |
| Sentenced state prisoner | Georgia Department of Corrections locator | Use for Johnson State Prison and other GDC institutions. |
| Federal sentenced inmate | BOP locator | No BOP facility was found in Johnson County. |
| ICE custody | ICE ODLS | No ICE detention facility was found in Johnson County. |
| Victim notification | Georgia VINELink / V.I.P. | Johnson County Jail local-feed participation was not confirmed. |
Johnson County Jail Facilities
Two different detention facilities in Wrightsville affect Johnson County searches. They sit in the same county, but they are not the same system. The county jail is run by the sheriff and is tied to local booking records. Johnson State Prison is run by GDC and holds sentenced adult male felons under state-prison rules.

Booking, Bond, and Holds
Johnson County did not publish a full booking-process guide, booking desk schedule, bond-window rule, or accepted bond-payment list in the official sources reviewed. The roster is the best public source for field-level booking facts. It can show arrest date, arresting agency, days in jail, total bond, warrant number, charge description, and court label.
Bond values should be read with care. A dollar amount may show that a bond has been set, while values such as denied or not set require direct confirmation from the jail or court. Holds can also affect release. Roster descriptions observed during research included bench warrant, probation violation, holding for another agency, and housed for agency. Those entries explain why a person may remain in custody, but they do not replace a direct warrant or court check.
Johnson County Visitation Gaps
No official Johnson County Jail visitation schedule, video-visit vendor, inmate mail format, commissary vendor, phone vendor, or bond-payment instruction page was located in the sheriff or county sources reviewed. That absence should be treated as a call-first issue. Do not use Johnson State Prison rules for a county-jail inmate, because the state prison has GDC approval and scheduling rules that do not automatically apply to the jail.
| Topic | Posted Local Jail Detail | Best Next Step |
|---|---|---|
| Visitation hours | Not located in official local sources | Call 478-864-4003 before traveling. |
| Mail format | Not located in official local sources | Ask the jail how to address mail and what is barred. |
| Money / commissary | Not located in official local sources | Confirm vendor and rules before sending funds. |
| Bond posting | Not located in official local sources | Use the roster bond field, then verify payment steps by phone. |
Request Older Jail Records
Older Johnson County booking records may require a public-records request because the roster does not state how far back released entries remain searchable. The sheriff contact page and the general county contact page are the located online channels. A request should identify the person, date range, type of record, and whether inspection or copies are requested. Georgia's Open Records Act framework applies, but Johnson County did not publish a dedicated booking-record form, fee schedule, or processing time in the reviewed sources.
For a statewide criminal history, the GBI criminal history FAQ explains that Georgia criminal history records can include identification data, arrest data, charges, final judicial disposition, and custodial information. GBI says most sheriff or police offices can provide Georgia criminal history record copies, while GCIC does not perform name-based checks for the public.
Note: Check custody status with Johnson County Jail before sending money, scheduling travel, or relying on a roster entry for court action.
